FAQ

Q. How often should I see a dentist?

A. The American Dental Association (ADA) guidelines recommend visiting a dentist at least twice a year for a checkup and professional cleaning. Our office follows the guidelines of the ADA, and the Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and thus also recommend a minimum of two visits per year. During orthodontic care, or for those patients who are at high risk for dental disease, we suggest 3 month cleanings with varnish application.

Q. What should I expect during my appointment?

A. One of our staff members will compile your medical and dental history during your first visit. Dr. Armstrong or Dr. Watts will then examine your child's teeth and gums, screen them for oral cancer, and make digital X-rays of their teeth as suggested by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. After our Doctor's review your child's dental profile, they will discuss a diagnosis with you.

During regular follow-up visits, we will examine their teeth and gums, screen them for oral cancer, clean their teeth and make plans for treatment if needed. Our Doctor's will discuss any pain or problems your child may be experiencing and answer any questions you may have.

Q. What does “painless dentistry” mean?

A. Painless dentistry is a means of ensuring your child's total experience in our office is as stress-free and pain-free as possible. We will discuss treatment options that may require no local anesthetic whenever possible, and attempt to alleviate pain by the means most comfortable to your child.

Q. What if I have an emergency?

A. Please call our office as soon as you determine that you have a dental emergency. We will be glad to work your child in to our schedule if your child has a dental emergency during regular business hours. After hours, over the weekend and during holidays, please call our office where you will be greeted and assisted by our answering service.

Q. Are payment plans available for my dental treatment?

A. Yes. We accept many types of dental insurance including Medicaid and CHIPS, and will process your claim for you upon receipt of your co-payment. We offer a low interest rate payment plan and also accept most major credit cards, including MasterCard and Visa.
